Musings of a crazy lady

I am the crazy lady. I only say I'm crazy because I might be about to rant and rave just a little. For those of you that don't know I majored in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism--many of you are thinking--what in the world is that? I worked as a Recreation Therapist for many years. I loved it, but one thing that stuck with me from school was Leave No Trace ( http://www.lnt.org/ ). I found this great website including all the principles for Outdoor Ethics and principles. Some of you may be thinking--what rules or principles for the outdoors???? I don't see them as rules, but mostly as respect for the environment and for the other people that want to use it. We went hiking again today. The hike was BEAUTIFUL. I was happily strolling along the trail sipping away at my camelback and ahhhhh! I almost stepped in some poop--yes--ewwww--poop! DOGGIE POOP! I love dogs just as much if not more than the next person, but if your cute doggie poops on the trail, then you better find a way

OW!!!!!

So yesterday we decided to go rollerblading. I know it’s a little out of style, but it is great fun. The first thing that I need to mention is that I have a great pair of rollerblades. They are speedy-I barely have to move. The second is that I’m not great at stopping. I can do it, but it’s hard to stop quickly. So the story-There is this trail by our house that is hilly and curvy. We start going uphill and we are going against the wind so it’s pretty hard. We were a huffin’ and puffin’ and sweatin‘--Cory more than me since he‘s actually pushing the stroller. I start to get a little nervous when Cory points out that we will be going downhill and the wind will push us. Hmmmm-I’m thinking to myself that means we’ll practically be flying. I tell myself it’s okay because I’ve gotten much better at stopping. I even reached the top of the trail before Cory and was telling my friend Tina that I had better get off the phone unless I wanted to end up getting plastic surgery from face planting.

Take me out to the Ball Game

My Mom got us some tickets to the Bees-formally known as the Buzz. We looked forward to it all week. We got all geared up-we had some cloud coverage, so we brought jackets, an umbrella, and everything we could think of. We arrived just on time. We got all comfortable in our seats then came the rain. We thought-hey no problem we brought our umbrella. We opened it up and sat happy and dry in our seats. After about 15 minutes of continuous down pour we decided to make a run for cover. It rained for the next 45 minutes during which time a man tried to convince Cory to join the army. He said, "Cory-you are just what we are looking for a great man with a little family." I was thinking-is this guy crazy? There's no way I can do this parenting business by myself!!! At 8pm they said they were going to get the field ready, so we grabbed some paper towels and wiped down our seats. We waited excitedly for the players to come out......we watched them shovel water, shovel dirt, rake di

Our Hikin' Adventure

I know this was almost a couple of weeks ago, but it is completely worthy blog material. I have slowly been easing into doing our old activities. We decided that we were going to go hiking on Memorial Day. I usually like to go first thing in the morning, but Isaak needed a nap first, so we left around 11am. It was a beautiful day-blue skies-nice breeze.......ahhhh. It was such a great day. We found a trail that was close to home and off we went. We hitched Isaak up in the Moby Wrap (I'm still not sure I love this product. It meets a need, but I wonder if something would meet it better-I really need to get me a backpack carrier, so I can carry Isaak around like a king on his throne. Babies have a good life, eh? They get carried around everywhere. They get fed. They get their little bums wiped. A good life.) So a hikin' we went. It was pretty much awesome. Isaak stayed awake the whole time because of course he doesn't fall asleep anywhere, but in the bouncer or carseat. He wa

Where does that rice cereal go?????

Cory wanted to feed Isaak his rice cereal today and this is what he looked like after..........silly boys! I was laughing so hard while Cory was feeding him which made Isaak laugh and kick and flail his arms all over the place---so he was covered in rice cereal. He also likes to help hold the spoon which makes it even funnier.......
