Musings of a crazy lady

I am the crazy lady. I only say I'm crazy because I might be about to rant and rave just a little. For those of you that don't know I majored in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism--many of you are thinking--what in the world is that? I worked as a Recreation Therapist for many years. I loved it, but one thing that stuck with me from school was Leave No Trace (http://www.lnt.org/). I found this great website including all the principles for Outdoor Ethics and principles. Some of you may be thinking--what rules or principles for the outdoors???? I don't see them as rules, but mostly as respect for the environment and for the other people that want to use it. We went hiking again today. The hike was BEAUTIFUL. I was happily strolling along the trail sipping away at my camelback and ahhhhh! I almost stepped in some poop--yes--ewwww--poop! DOGGIE POOP! I love dogs just as much if not more than the next person, but if your cute doggie poops on the trail, then you better find a way to bury it or at least push it under a rock, if not then scoop it up and pack it out! If I have to pack around a bag with my toilet paper then they surely can pack that out if they want to bring the dog in. Some of you might be saying---but it's an animal--yeah but that dog isn't eating any berries, leaves, grass, hay,etc......the poop stinks and I don't want to see it. I also think that goes for human poop-dig yourself a hole and if you are too lazy--at least poop under a rock!!! So I say as a crazy lady--pick up your dog poop, bury your poop and stop burning plastics in the fire!!!! Okay my other crazy quirk--stop burning stuff that shouldn't be burned-throw it away!!! Long live pristine mountains!!!!! Now that I'm done ranting I'll post some pictures of our pretty almost pristine hike. Cory and Isaak at the summit. The lake was so pretty-it was a emerald green color. Someone jumped in while we were there-I was ready to treat hypothermia. It was chilly at the top. If you are wondering what in the world Isaak is wearing on his feet--I'll explain. He had on these little ankle socks, which he has become pro at kicking off. I was worried about him staying warm and found a pair of my socks in the back seat--thank goodness I'm kind of messy--and he totally got to wear my socks today. They helped keep him nice and warm.As you can see a close up of his awesome leg warmers. I walked behind Cory for the majority of the hike and giggled randomly because I thought it was so funny that Isaak was wearing my valentines socks! We were just lucky they were in the car. I must also say that Isaak did pretty well in the backpack carrier. He fussed a little but finally fell asleep Cory took this picture at the ridgeline.
Isn't this view amazing? We were far enough back in the range that you could start to see multiple ranges.

I would totally have to agree with you! It IS super annoying when people don't pick up after their dogs or when they think that it is okay to just litter where ever they want.

That is a cool little carrier that you guys bought. Paul and I would love to go hiking with you guys!

Alas I speak

First of all it was easy to get that Widget of the Baby on, but I have no idea how to get if off. It's not that I don't want to remove it, I just don't know how. I'm not the smartest blogger on the block. I bet there is some button that says remove widget somewhere. So the big day finally arrived-if you want to know as little as possible I suggest that you read no further, but just scroll down and enjoy the pictures. I slept in on Thursday(last week)-it was glorious. I straightened my hair, shaved my legs and just slowly got ready for work. I then decided that it was essential that I pick up baby wipes from Costco. My body must have known that I would be needing them soon. I'm walking around Costco and all of the sudden I pee my pants. I was looking all around for a bathroom, but I couldn't see one anywhere. I thought well it was just a little leak and I know there is a bathroom at target and they are usually pretty clean. So I head over to target and I continue...

From me to him

Dear Isaak, Happy Birthday my little guy! It feels like just yesterday that you were literally pulled out to come into this world. Yes literally with forceps around your little head because you accidentally faced the wrong direction or maybe you faced the direction you wanted to. You didn’t seem like you were quite ready to come out because you were just wailing--almost like you were saying, “You know--I was perfectly comfortable in there.” I’ve learned this year that you surely know what you want and you will not stop until you get it. For example when we tried to spend the weekend away from home and you didn't like sleeping in your playpen! You woke up every 1/2 hour to let us know you weren't comfortable. You finally fell asleep around 3am when we put you on the bouncer. Cory slept with his arm around you on the floor so you didn't roll off. You weren’t going to come easy, eh?? I remember pushing and pushing and pushing and thinking this isn’t going how I thought that i...

Whaaaaat??????

I'm happily brushing my teeth in the bathroom. I'm looking around wondering what else I could be doing while I'm brushing my teeth and I started to think to myself, hmmmm , I wonder what's in toothpaste? I picked up the tube with my free hand and continued brushing. As I was reading the back I noticed a WaRnINg : Do not use for more than four weeks at a time. What? Do not use for more than four weeks? I anticipated reading if you swallow more than what you are brushing your teeth with call poison control. I try to start adding up how long I've been using this toothpaste. Cory didn't like it, so I've been using it solo and it has surely been more than four weeks. Now I don't know what to do with it--do I take a break and come back to it or do I just keep using it? I mean it's been about three months and I still have quite a bit left and nothing seems out of the ordinary yet...But seriously I think that the warning on the toothpaste should at least be...
