BedHead

Isaak has the awesomest cowlick. It nearly takes up tons of room on his lil head. I imagine as his head gets bigger it will get smaller. Positive thinking, eh? I love his little cowlick because whenever he gets into the car seat or a little sweaty the thing gets volume! it goes all curly crazy messy. I'm always trying to swirl it back into place. I imagine it looks like I never comb his hair. Maybe I don't. I'm not going to tell. Cory got some awesome pictures of his bed head. I love the pictures I think that he's adorable in them. He has one of my favorite Isaak looks on his face. This day was awesome. It was supposed to be rainy and yucky out, but it was gorgeous. We didn't even do anything that exciting besides get a copy of our marriage license and Isaak's birth certificate. We stopped in SLC on our way home at the Belgian Waffle place and had ourselves a Gaufre. Yum. I love them and it got me thinking about Belgium and how much I love the city of Brussels and how I would actually love to buy a waffle in the train station instead of downtown SLC. They are about half the price in Brussels. I miss good ole brussels. I want to see it again. Instead I settled for playing soccer and jump rope in the back yard. I say jump rope meaning we had a jump rope, but it served an entirely different purpose. Isaak can't jump the rope yet. Then I realized that I loved spending time with these two wild and crazy guys who both have the ability to make me giggle. So I love this picture because it reminds me of that day!

ahhhh you are all so cute. I want to go to Brussels to get a table cloth, and to just smell the air... I loved the smell of air there... I love the smell in the air in Hawaii also but Brussels is entirely different. Hawaii is flowery and sweet and salty. Brussels is everything... it smells like fabric softener... ohhhhhh the memories that was the best trip of my entier life

Isaak reminds me of Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes) with his hair like that.

From me to him

Dear Isaak, Happy Birthday my little guy! It feels like just yesterday that you were literally pulled out to come into this world. Yes literally with forceps around your little head because you accidentally faced the wrong direction or maybe you faced the direction you wanted to. You didn’t seem like you were quite ready to come out because you were just wailing--almost like you were saying, “You know--I was perfectly comfortable in there.” I’ve learned this year that you surely know what you want and you will not stop until you get it. For example when we tried to spend the weekend away from home and you didn't like sleeping in your playpen! You woke up every 1/2 hour to let us know you weren't comfortable. You finally fell asleep around 3am when we put you on the bouncer. Cory slept with his arm around you on the floor so you didn't roll off. You weren’t going to come easy, eh?? I remember pushing and pushing and pushing and thinking this isn’t going how I thought that i...

July 29 Ward Lake & the Library Ketchikan

It's raining it's pouring the old man is snoring. He's really snoring. It's been down pouring since we got here last night and it poured all day long. We got up and headed out to Ward Lake to a BBQ with their church.  It's beautiful. The kids thought it was the best ever because they had donuts, chips, hot dogs, watermelon, cherries and cookies. Isaak of course immediately started playing with some kids his age. Chloe and Lydia frolicked around in the woods and played horseshoes. It stopped raining for maybe 10 minutes, but other than that it picked right back up. I was sure they were going to cancel the BBQ, but again the kids seemed indifferent to all the rain. Some of them were even kayaking. I was too busy freezing! The hike around the lake is 1.5 miles and we saw a beaver den sans beaver. We walked around the Lake and it was like being submerged in the rain forest. Well it's not like being submerged in a rain forest. We were in a rain forest called the Tong...

The Farthest North Point & Settlers Cove

The rain continues to come down. I've never seen it rain like this before. Teana and Derek told us that the rain is more consistent with weather in October than in the summer, but weather.com promises that a warm front is in store for tomorrow. We went to church in an amazing building. The ward house was completely built in Cedar. Apparently the church shipped a cedar kit and the members of the church in the area worked with general contractors to put it together. It's beautiful and it smells so good!!! Chloe didn't want to go to primary by herself. At first I was trying tough love, but she started weeping. Okay. So she was actually trully scared. I sat with her in primary and then someone in the sharing time chose to sing Gethsemane. Chloe immediately relaxed. I was again aware of how much Heavenly Father cares for his children. Gethsemane is Chloe's favorite song and she always sings it when she's sad or asks us to sing it for her. She then said it was okay if I...
