Mellow Yellow

I know--its like I disappeared for a bit, but the weather is so nice and I spend as much time outside as I can. Isaak and Chloe never seem to nap at the same time, so I hardly have any freetime--until today. They have both been asleep for two hours and the things I have accomplished are quite a feat. But I just wanted to post Easter pictures because Isaak and Chloe-Leona have grown so much. We didn't mean to have a theme, but we ended up getting both of the little ones yellow outfits. By chance. Isaak picked out his outfit because i don't buy anything for him unless he's with me so I can convince him to wear it again. Cory and I both ended up with blue-but his blue and my blue are completely different.

I also want to say that sometimes I'm so amazed at what I believe. I love the Resurrection. I love knowing that Jesus overcame so that we can be made perfect and whole. I love the promise that we will be with our loved ones again. I love that I know that. It makes me so excited that I want to share it with everyone. I also look forward to getting back my curlier curls and getting rid of some of these new grey hairs and maybe a few fine lines. Sheeshers. The promise is great.

Marsha makes cream puffs every year for easter, which is one of my favorite new traditions and I took some pictures of Isaak eating. He is so much like his dad and he totally has his mouth. Did you know Cory can fit his entire fist in his mouth? That might not seem like much, but his hands are huge. Seriously. Mine easily fits in his mouth and I can't even get my fist in my mouth. The
weird things we do at our house. Wow.

Holy Cow Sadie, I cannot believe how much bigger Chloe is and she is so stinking adorable. I love the matching outfits and when did Isaak get such long crazy hair like Cory? I love it!!

Oh my, Isaak does have a huge mouth! I can't believe how grown up he looks in his Easter outfit. And I'd love to hear more about cute little Chloe!

July 18th Bannack State Park

Packing, unpacking, cleaning, organizing, planning, re-planning, forest fires, ferry tickets, laundry-sooo much laundry, worrying, angst, stressing, food planning, bag picking, snack buying, roof racks, chickens, dogs, kids, and alas we are off. Nothing felt better then when we locked all the doors asking over and over if we'd forgotten anything and took off towards the open road. Only to turn back to rearrange the cooler because we almost smashed Isaak when we made our first turn. It felt like a relief for it to finally be happening. I was excited to spend the next month with four of my most favorite people on an adventure. We have one of our biggest drives ahead of us today and it was only a mere 5.5 hour drive to Bannack, Montana.

The ride was hot, but we had air conditioning which helped. Cory talked about when he was a kid they'd make their yearly journey to Edmonton sweating, sticky and uncomfortable. He dreamed of swimming pools and lakes at his final destination. We le…

July 19th Flathead Lake

It was a little chilly this morning until the sun came over the mountains then we were sticky and hot within minutes. We had a hard time trying to figure out how to piece all of our stuff back together into the car. Cory made breakfast while I broke down camp. The kids ran around covered in mosquito bites. There were so many mosquitoes. Zelly got the worst of it. She got bit right by her eye and it's swollen up. She looks like she got in a fight at the saloon in Bannack. The poor gal. Isaak is itching his until they bleed. I finally put lavender and tea tree oil on them all and that helped. We bought this bug-spray without Deet since Zella is still too young to use Deet, but I don't think it was that effective obviously since we have about 20 bites a pieces. Hungry little mosquitoes. After two hours of arranging and rearranging we got everything and everyone back in the car, but we made a quick stop at the Ghost town to hike up to the cemetery and see a few more of the houses.…

July 21st Radium Springs

I was awoken in the night by lightening and thunder. It didn't smell like rain so I assumed it was another lightening storm and I hoped it wouldn't start any forest fires. I fell back to sleep to be awoke by the sound of rain pelleting the tent about an hour later. I hurried and put a stake in the rain fly and crawled back into bed. It rained and it poured and it rained and it poured almost the entire rest of the night. We woke up to a soddy camp, but we had survived for the most part but because of my insistence that it wasn't going to rain we didn't properly stake down the rain fly so the tent was wet around the bottom. Isaak's bag was wet from snuggling with the wet tent. We knew we couldn't pack up until everything was dry so we had some farm eggs with bacon for breakfast. Seriously so good. Cory has been doing most of the cooking probably because it was my vacation and he wanted to do that. Probably the same reason we stayed up super late the first night p…
