Hikin it up

I love summer. I'm in love with the sun. I haven't been happier all year. Well maybe the time that Cory and I went snowboarding or maybe some funny moments, but I love warm summer nights, watching fireworks, sweating, looking for shade, swimming, hiking and just being outside. Isaak loves it too. We have been having a lot of fun. He's been quite tuckered out. One of my favorite days was when we decided to hike Ensign Peak. My brother was supposed to come, but has terrible allergies and could barley open his eyes to come. Poor Guy! So Isaak and I embarked on our trip solo. Don't worry there are tons of people that hike Ensign Peak daily. It was safe. It was also the perfect day to do it. The sun was shining, but it wasn't a lick over 75degrees and since there is no shade that makes it perfect.Isaak saying, "Cheese!" He loved climbing up the stairs and didn't want any help from me in any way. He made it about 3/4's the way up running and climbing. I could barely keep up.Isaak deemed this rock our snack rock. He was patting the spot next to him announcing that we were supposed to have a snack. We munched on some goldfish while we watched a few people pass us up. Ps--notice how green it is? There were wildflowers everywhere! The Summit!!! As soon as we got to the top Isaak put his hands on both of my cheeks and made me look at him as he declared, "Mommy! We made it! We MADE it! We did it."How can you go downtown without stopping for frites and gaufres--belgian code for fries and waffles. Isaak loves the waffles. He tried to eat mine after he was done with his, but he didn't win this time--they are way too good!!! They have a brand new fry sauce with chinese five spice and it was pretty tasty, but way different than my traditional andalouse. If that's foreign language to you then you should go get some frites and gaufres so you can taste the utter deliciousness!!!

This was one of those days when all the stars seem to align and everything works out perfectly. Isaak was an angel in the car and even fell asleep on the way home. He was tired enough to continue his nap for three more hours once we got home. He listened well and followed directions. He didn't have a single temper tantrum and he was in the happiest, quirkiest mood. It made me remember why I love being a Mom so much and seeing Isaak trying new things and surprising me with his tenacity. Oh, I love summer.

I'm so glad you had a wonderful mommy as son day! Yes, the gaufres are super delicious! I think Paul and I should go with Bean to Ensign Peak. That looks like fun!

I love it! I would be so nervous to go hiking solo with AliCherie. But it goes to show there is nothing to be scared of. I love all of the photos and it sounds like so much fun! Isaak sure is a cute kiddo!!! I can't believe how skinny he looks. :)

fun times. I thnk at least one day this summer I am calling in "sick" so we can play. I find it humorous that so many people think Issak is "skinny". You and your brothers will all "skinny" and so are I's cousins so I guess that seems normal to me.

Whaaaaat??????

I'm happily brushing my teeth in the bathroom. I'm looking around wondering what else I could be doing while I'm brushing my teeth and I started to think to myself, hmmmm , I wonder what's in toothpaste? I picked up the tube with my free hand and continued brushing. As I was reading the back I noticed a WaRnINg : Do not use for more than four weeks at a time. What? Do not use for more than four weeks? I anticipated reading if you swallow more than what you are brushing your teeth with call poison control. I try to start adding up how long I've been using this toothpaste. Cory didn't like it, so I've been using it solo and it has surely been more than four weeks. Now I don't know what to do with it--do I take a break and come back to it or do I just keep using it? I mean it's been about three months and I still have quite a bit left and nothing seems out of the ordinary yet...But seriously I think that the warning on the toothpaste should at least be

OW!!!!!

So yesterday we decided to go rollerblading. I know it’s a little out of style, but it is great fun. The first thing that I need to mention is that I have a great pair of rollerblades. They are speedy-I barely have to move. The second is that I’m not great at stopping. I can do it, but it’s hard to stop quickly. So the story-There is this trail by our house that is hilly and curvy. We start going uphill and we are going against the wind so it’s pretty hard. We were a huffin’ and puffin’ and sweatin‘--Cory more than me since he‘s actually pushing the stroller. I start to get a little nervous when Cory points out that we will be going downhill and the wind will push us. Hmmmm-I’m thinking to myself that means we’ll practically be flying. I tell myself it’s okay because I’ve gotten much better at stopping. I even reached the top of the trail before Cory and was telling my friend Tina that I had better get off the phone unless I wanted to end up getting plastic surgery from face planting.
