Too Many CLOTHES!!!

I feel like our clothes are growing. I don't know how they do it, but the laundry seems to never be done or never completely folded. Or the kids are constantly outgrowing things and I have boxes full of clothes to be stored and they seem to be piling up. How could we possibly have so many clothes!!!!?? I swear that I just cleaned out drawers a few weeks ago--well I did, but I have more stuff to clean out of both of their dressers. But I have a new favorite treat. It beacons me and helps me get through folding laundry so I can go sneak a bit as my reward. I love brownies. I adore brownies. I crave their ooey gooey goodness, but we've been trying to cut back on sugars and unhealthy treats and I came across a recipe for raw brownies. It's simple, fast and easy.
1 cup Dates
1 cup Pecans
unsweetened cocoa powder to your taste
I'm drooling just thinking about it. I actually like to add more pecans than dates. It's my preference. You can either eat the deliciousness right out of the food processor( or whatever you use to blend them) or you can press them into a pan and slice up some deliciousness. I made some last night and am tempted to make some now. Hmmm. Maybe I'll fold some laundry so I deserve a treat. I also have a new recipe for Cashew Carrot Curry soup--But I'll save that post for later this week. I'm off to fold laundry so I can eat some brownies.

SOunds yummy I will have to try some. I felt the same way about laundry but now I have a designated laundry day and I have a goal to get all the clothes washed that day and then either that night or the next night after Jared and the kids are in bed I fold it all and watch a show I love. It has been awesome and I actually look forward to it everyday!

July 29 Ward Lake & the Library Ketchikan

It's raining it's pouring the old man is snoring. He's really snoring. It's been down pouring since we got here last night and it poured all day long. We got up and headed out to Ward Lake to a BBQ with their church.  It's beautiful. The kids thought it was the best ever because they had donuts, chips, hot dogs, watermelon, cherries and cookies. Isaak of course immediately started playing with some kids his age. Chloe and Lydia frolicked around in the woods and played horseshoes. It stopped raining for maybe 10 minutes, but other than that it picked right back up. I was sure they were going to cancel the BBQ, but again the kids seemed indifferent to all the rain. Some of them were even kayaking. I was too busy freezing! The hike around the lake is 1.5 miles and we saw a beaver den sans beaver. We walked around the Lake and it was like being submerged in the rain forest. Well it's not like being submerged in a rain forest. We were in a rain forest called the Tong...

The Farthest North Point & Settlers Cove

The rain continues to come down. I've never seen it rain like this before. Teana and Derek told us that the rain is more consistent with weather in October than in the summer, but weather.com promises that a warm front is in store for tomorrow. We went to church in an amazing building. The ward house was completely built in Cedar. Apparently the church shipped a cedar kit and the members of the church in the area worked with general contractors to put it together. It's beautiful and it smells so good!!! Chloe didn't want to go to primary by herself. At first I was trying tough love, but she started weeping. Okay. So she was actually trully scared. I sat with her in primary and then someone in the sharing time chose to sing Gethsemane. Chloe immediately relaxed. I was again aware of how much Heavenly Father cares for his children. Gethsemane is Chloe's favorite song and she always sings it when she's sad or asks us to sing it for her. She then said it was okay if I...

From me to him

Dear Isaak, Happy Birthday my little guy! It feels like just yesterday that you were literally pulled out to come into this world. Yes literally with forceps around your little head because you accidentally faced the wrong direction or maybe you faced the direction you wanted to. You didn’t seem like you were quite ready to come out because you were just wailing--almost like you were saying, “You know--I was perfectly comfortable in there.” I’ve learned this year that you surely know what you want and you will not stop until you get it. For example when we tried to spend the weekend away from home and you didn't like sleeping in your playpen! You woke up every 1/2 hour to let us know you weren't comfortable. You finally fell asleep around 3am when we put you on the bouncer. Cory slept with his arm around you on the floor so you didn't roll off. You weren’t going to come easy, eh?? I remember pushing and pushing and pushing and thinking this isn’t going how I thought that i...
