a normal week

Playing with toys on his personal ottoman.
Isn't he cute in those Pajammies? I got them in Portland.
Isaak gets really excited when he escapes to the outside.

I am about to wow you with how interesting I am...no really I'm not. I'm simply going to talk about my week because I haven't had much more going on. I might even add some pictures of Isaak, but they will be at the top of the blog since I didn't upload them until after....

The highpoint of my week was going to a baby class. Isaak and I went to a baby story time. We got to play ring around the rosie, hokie pokie, and other fun games-it was awesome Isaak giggled and giggled. Then I got to watch Isaak watch the other kids and play on a mat with lots of toys. At this point of baby story time I started to feel a little anxious because I didn't know what baby toy etiquette was. Isaak likes to put pretty much everything in his mouth. I knew these were shared toys--should I let him put them in his mouth? So I tried to stop him, which is like trying to stop fruit flies on decaying fruit. I kept slyly trying to move the toys away from his mouth and gently wipe off his slobber without anyone noticing--then I started observing the other babies--they all had toys in their mouth. I sat back and let Isaak chomp away.

After a month of no car---------drumroll-----I have a car. Yeah!! I went to the store today because I could. I also have to clean out Mechanic smell tomorrow. It feels nice to have a car, but I'm actually grateful for the time that I didn't have a car. We learn a lot about ourselves when we are out of our comfort zones, eh?

We rented some movies from the library. I think the library is one of my favorite places in the world--Gracie is a great film=you should all go rent it from your local library then you'll have a week to watch it and it's free. ahhh--I love the library.

I like that you posted stuff about your everyday life with Isaak. I like learning about what everyone else does during the day.
I would have totally been like you... all concerned about if my baby was doing something not acceptable at that class. That is great that you got to relax a bit and let him have fun!

Sheesh. I learned so much about not having a car. I learned to ask for help more often. I got used to really being at home-a lot. It wasn't as bad as I thought. Now today I went walking and don't really even want to go anywhere though I need to buy some stuff at the store and get a present. I just don't feel like going--I'd rather stay home. I learned that I actually like to stay home. I also was retaught about how patient I need to be. I'm so impatient.

July 29 Ward Lake & the Library Ketchikan

It's raining it's pouring the old man is snoring. He's really snoring. It's been down pouring since we got here last night and it poured all day long. We got up and headed out to Ward Lake to a BBQ with their church.  It's beautiful. The kids thought it was the best ever because they had donuts, chips, hot dogs, watermelon, cherries and cookies. Isaak of course immediately started playing with some kids his age. Chloe and Lydia frolicked around in the woods and played horseshoes. It stopped raining for maybe 10 minutes, but other than that it picked right back up. I was sure they were going to cancel the BBQ, but again the kids seemed indifferent to all the rain. Some of them were even kayaking. I was too busy freezing! The hike around the lake is 1.5 miles and we saw a beaver den sans beaver. We walked around the Lake and it was like being submerged in the rain forest. Well it's not like being submerged in a rain forest. We were in a rain forest called the Tong...

From me to him

Dear Isaak, Happy Birthday my little guy! It feels like just yesterday that you were literally pulled out to come into this world. Yes literally with forceps around your little head because you accidentally faced the wrong direction or maybe you faced the direction you wanted to. You didn’t seem like you were quite ready to come out because you were just wailing--almost like you were saying, “You know--I was perfectly comfortable in there.” I’ve learned this year that you surely know what you want and you will not stop until you get it. For example when we tried to spend the weekend away from home and you didn't like sleeping in your playpen! You woke up every 1/2 hour to let us know you weren't comfortable. You finally fell asleep around 3am when we put you on the bouncer. Cory slept with his arm around you on the floor so you didn't roll off. You weren’t going to come easy, eh?? I remember pushing and pushing and pushing and thinking this isn’t going how I thought that i...

The Farthest North Point & Settlers Cove

The rain continues to come down. I've never seen it rain like this before. Teana and Derek told us that the rain is more consistent with weather in October than in the summer, but weather.com promises that a warm front is in store for tomorrow. We went to church in an amazing building. The ward house was completely built in Cedar. Apparently the church shipped a cedar kit and the members of the church in the area worked with general contractors to put it together. It's beautiful and it smells so good!!! Chloe didn't want to go to primary by herself. At first I was trying tough love, but she started weeping. Okay. So she was actually trully scared. I sat with her in primary and then someone in the sharing time chose to sing Gethsemane. Chloe immediately relaxed. I was again aware of how much Heavenly Father cares for his children. Gethsemane is Chloe's favorite song and she always sings it when she's sad or asks us to sing it for her. She then said it was okay if I...
